How to Make Classic Humous Dip
There’s just one fiddley step to make this Classic Humous Dip Recipe.
You need to peel the chick peas.
I know it’s fiddley and boring and oh so time consuming. But it’s worth it I promise. You can just blend the chick peas with their skins on but it tends to give the humous a gritty texture instead of silky smooth.
To peel the chick peas take each chick pea and hold it between your thumb and forefinger. Apply just a little pressure and the skin should slip off.

Reserve the liquid and dispose of the chick pea skins.
Once that’s out of the way this Classic Humous Dip Recipe is super easy.
Use a garlic press to mince the garlic.
Then you just pop the ingredients into a food processor and blend.

Add the reserved chick pea juice.
Then add the spices and lime juice a little at a time. Keep giving it a taste test and add the spices until you’re happy.
Add plenty of salt too, it really elevates the taste of this Classic Humous Dip Recipe.
How to Freeze Classic Humous Dip
You can absolutely freeze any leftover Classic Humous Dip.
Just pop it into freezer tubs and remember to label them.
For best results (as they say) take your tub of Classic Humous Dip out of the freezer a day or two before you plan to eat it. You will need to give it a good stir as it will separate a bit in the freezer.
How to Serve Classic Humous Dip
I offer Classic Humous Dip to the kids with vegetable sticks but my kids turn their noses up, lots of their friends love it this way though. Sometimes I make up little snack pots of Classic Humous Dip and Sour Cream with veggie sticks. They keep in the fridge for a few days and are a great easy snack option for the mid afternoon munchies.
I also like to add Classic Humous Dip to my salads. A tablespoon or two on the side adds extra protein and something moist to my salads. It’s good in sandwiches too.
And of course it’s great with chips – but in the UK we call them crisps!
I do hope that my Classic Humous Dip Recipe recipe has inspired you to have a go at making your own dips.
