Making your own Guacamole is quick and easy. It’s so much tastier than the store bought Guacamole. With a little planning you can use ripen at home avocados and keep the cost down. I make Homemade Guacamole every time I host a party and it always goes down well.
Ingredients
- Avocados £1.45
- Red Onion 10p
- Tomato 17p
- 5 – 6 Cloves of Garlic 15p
- Lime Juice 15p
Total = £2.02

Food purchased from Aldi. Prices correct at time of publishing.
I’ve bought ripen at home avocados because they are much much cheaper than the ready and ripe packs. However this does mean that the avocadoes do need to be bought about a week before you want to make your Homemade Guacamole. You can absolutely use the ripe and ready variety, it will just cost more.
I haven’t included any quantities for this Homemade Guacamole Recipe because everything is “to taste”.
How to Make Homemade Guacamole
Start by peeling the avocados and removing the stones.
Dice the avocado and pop them into a tub.

Use a garlic press to finely mince the garlic and add that to the avocado.
Very finely dice the onion and add it to the mixture.

Finely chop the tomato and add this too.
Give it a mix and have a taste.
Add a splash of lime juice. Keep mixing, tasting and adding lime juice until your Homemade Guacamole is to your liking.
Store it covered in the fridge for up to 5 days and enjoy with crisps, chips, salads and everything else!
Freezing Homemade Guacamole
Yes, you can freeze Homemade Guacamole!! Make sure you’ve been quite heavy handed with the lime juice as this will help to stop it from discolouring.
The other thing you need to worry about is making sure that your Homemade Guacamole is in a completely air tight container. If there’s any air involved it will go brown and look gross.
How to Serve Homemade Guacamole
I always make a big batch of Homemade Guacamole for parties and then enjoy the leftovers throughout the following week. I love it served with salads but it’s also great added to jacket potatoes. I have it with leftover sandwiches and use it as a dip.
And of course it’s great with crisps.
I do hope that my Homemade Guacamole recipe has inspired you to have a go at making your own dips and sauces.
