How could I say no when my Little Dude asked for a new knitted hoody? He picked out these fun buttons and some matching yarn (Stylecraft Fusion Chunky) then I helped him choose a knitting pattern, James C Brett JB629.

Knitting Yarn

My Little Dude picked out this lovely blue yarn from Stylecraft. It’s called Fusion chunky presumably because it has teeny tiny flecks of other colours in the yarn, it’s sort of blue but sort of not if that makes any sense whatsoever!!

The shade is 1683 blue.

Knitting Pattern

I steered Little Dude towards this knitting pattern from James C Brett. It’s a simple stocking stitch hoody just like he wanted but it also includes a pull over version that I thought would come in handy in the future.

The instructions were lovely and straightforward. It knitted up really quickly thanks to the chunky yarn and simple pattern.

Knitting Notions

Little Dude picked out these epic star shaped buttons. Actually he picked these up first and everything else was bought to suit these buttons. They are horrible to fasten!! But they’re so stinking cute I just couldn’t say no to him. It’s the first time my Little Dude has taken an interest in my crafting and my heart just melted.

Finishing Techniques

I’ve got to take a moment to blow my own trumpet here. This ladies and gentlemen is a seam. An actual knitted sewn up seam. Like two actual pieces of knitting seamed together so perfectly you can barely tell they’re joined.

I learned these techniques from following along with a Craftsy class Seaming Handknits with Chris Bylsma. I really enjoyed improving my knitting skills and I’m so proud of the results I’ve achieved.

I do hope that my knitting adventures have inspired you to have a go at knitting for yourself. Follow me on your favourite social media channel for more inspirational projects.
