Pizza Sauce Recipe for Home Canning

We have homemade pizza every week. The kids make their own pizzas so I get the night off cooking. By using homemade pizza sauce and a second portion of veggies on top of the pizza, it’s a healthy balanced meal – just don’t tell my kids that!

Ingredients

  • Tinned Chopped Tomatoes / 12 Tins £3.36
  • Tomato Puree 9 tubes £2.43
  • 125ml Lemon Juice 35p
  • 1 Teaspoon Dried Basil
  • 1 Teaspoon Dried Oregano
  • 1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder 10p

Total Cost = £6.24

Makes 16 jars = 39p per jar

How to Make Pizza Sauce

Open all the tins. This is honestly the hardest part! Empty the tomatoes into a large pan and put it on to boil.

Add the tomato puree into the pan.

Boil it for a good 15 minutes.

Blend the tomatoes until they are smooth.

Add the spices.

Ladle the pizza sauce into clean jam jars. Wipe the rims clean and secure the lids.

Boil in a hot water bath canner for 35 mins at boiling point, 100 degrees Celsius.

Makes 16 250ml jars

I do hope that my pizza sauce recipe has inspired you to have a go at making your own pizza sauce.

A Little Bit About Me . . .

Hi there! Thank you so much for stopping by my little corner of the interweb. I’m Bridie.

I’ve been crafting since I was toddling around craft shows while my mum sold knitting yarn. She used to buy me a new craft kit to keep me busy. When I grew up I set up my own online craft shop and loved every minute of it. There’s is nothing like the thrill of getting to be one of the first people to see new craft collections.

I sold my business to focus on raising my two children. They’re still young so for now I’m blogging my craft projects and sharing tutorials to inspire you. I love creating handmade cards with digital stamps. I scrapbook to preserve precious memories of my kids childhoods. I knit and sew to keep my kids in comfortable, unique clothes they love. I create batch cooked meals that give me more time to craft. And because I’m not currently earning I do all of this on a teeny tiny budget.

I’ll show you all the best ways to craft on a tight budget so you can still create a life you love.
