All the taste of homemade apple pie in a jar!! This Apple Pie Jam is absolutely delicious spread onto toast for breakfast or a snack. I made a whole batch in my hot water bath canner, it will keep for a year in the cupboard – but it won’t last that long!
Ingredients
- 750g Apples
- 100g Raisins
- 300g Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
- 2 Tablespoons Pectin
- 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/2 Teaspoon nutmeg
- 250ml Apple Juice
Makes about 3 – 4 250 ml standard jam jars.
Making Apple Pie Jam
Peel and core the apples.
Finely chop them and add the pieces of apple to a large stainless steel pan.
Add the lemon juice and apple juice to the pan and bring it to the boil.

Once the apples have softened a little add the pectin to the pan.
Add the sugar and keep on boiling the mixture.
You can mash the apples a bit with a potato masher or use a stick blender for a very fine jam. It really depends on how chunky you’d like your finished jam to be.
Add the raisins the pan and give them a good stir.
Remove the pan from the heat.
Add the spices and stir them in.
Pour the jam mixture into clean jam jars leaving about a centimetre of head space.
Seal the jam jars by applying the lids until finger tight.
Put the jam jars into a hot water bath canner at 100 degrees centigrade.
Boil for 10 minutes.
My electric hot water bath canner has broken down – just in time for canning season! So instead I’m using a large pan full of water and keeping that at boiling for 10 minutes. My jars have sealed nicely, although my electric canner is much easier to use because I didn’t have to watch or time it.
Tasting Notes
Oh my goodness, this jam is divine!!! It really does taste like apple pie on your toast.
