Easy Ribby Cowl with Free Knitting Pattern

Continuing my efforts to stash bust my knitting yarn I’ve knitted this ribby cowl with the very last scrap of my red Aran yarn.

Materials

I’m using So Crafty Red Aran Yarn from Aldi. It’s a beautiful deep red colour which really caught my eye. It was also a fantastic price, just £4.99 for 400g a ball.

I’ve got about 200g left over from my jumper and decided to knit some winter accessories to match my new jumper. I’m determined to do some serious stash busting before I invest in any new yarn.

Knitting Pattern

Cast on 34 stitches.

Knit in 2 x 2 rib (knit 2, purl 2) until length desired.

Easy Ribby Cowl with Free Knitting Pattern

Length desired being enough to comfortably fit around the wearers neck or something similar that coincides with the ball of yarn almost running out.

Cast Off.

Fold each end in half width ways. Nest the two ends together. If you imagine that one end is a U shape and the other end an n. One side of the U slots up in-between the two sides of the n. I hope that makes sense?!!

Here’s a terribly drawn diagram that I hope will explain it better.

Stitch all four layers together.

Then turn the cowl the right side out and fiddle about with it until the knot
