Making cards for boys can be tough. I’m loving the grungy vibes in this Sticks and Bones collection from Polkadoodles, it goes perfectly with the distressed feel of First Edition’s Perfect Allusion papers.

Digital Stamping

The Digi image is from Polkadoodles, part of their Sticks & Bones range.

I print my digital stamps onto Ultimate Graphic 160gsm paper. It’s bright white so my colours really pop and it’s super smooth surface makes blending easier.

I’ve coloured this little guy with my Winsor & Newton BrushMarkers. Here’s the shade’s I’ve used:

Sticks and Stones Aim High - Handmade Greetings Card

I like to use distress inks to add a bit of colour around my images. I use a Blending Tool to sweep the ink onto the edges of my digital stamp. For this card I’ve used Tea Dye.

Designer Papers

I’m loving all the neutral tones and interesting textures in the Perfect Allusion paper pack from First Edition.

It can be hard to find designer papers that are suitable for boys cards. This pack has just the right distressed vibe for these dirty little boys cards.

Embellishments

In keeping with the rustic feel of this card I’ve picked out this hessian ribbon to add some texture and interest to my design.

I couldn’t resist adding a little sparkle with a few gems.

Greeting

I chose this cute little printed greeting which is also from the Sticks and Bones Collection by Polkadoodles.

After printing the greeting I’ve die cut around it using my favourite tag die from Sizzix.

Take a Peak Inside

I think it’s such a shame to receive a beautifully decorated card only to open it and be faced with a blank page. So I use more of my designer papers to decorate the insides of my cards. I mostly use scraps leftover from the main design and a 10cm square of plain paper to write a nice message onto.
