Why Use Digital Stamps?
Save Money
Digital stamps have loads of advantages over traditional rubber or clear stamps. They are generally much cheaper, costing just a few pounds each and less if you buy a whole set together.
Pro tip – when you find an artist that you particularly like make sure you join their Facebook group and sign up for their newsletter to get their best prices. I typically save 50% off the digital stamps I buy this way.
Huge Choice
Because they are digital you can buy from a designer across the other side of the globe just as easily as you could from a local artist. And not only that but the money you pay usually goes directly to the artist not some faceless corporation. Aside from the warm fuzzies that might give you it also means that unique and innovative artists can sell their digital stamps so there’s an enormous range of art styles to choose from.
Customisable
Digital stamps are easy to re-size and even edit (always check the artist’s angel policy first). I mostly use them in my card making but because they can be literally any size. I’ve even used one to paint a design on a curtain. Anything you can transfer the design onto is fair game! You can add your own text, mirror the image or even combine multiple digital stamps to create a scene.
Save Space
Over the years I’ve collected hundreds of digital stamps. Not only would the equivalent physical stamps have cost me a small fortune I’d need to buy a bigger house to store them in, and then there’s some kind of storage solution, and protecting them from sunlight, and hunting for them of my goodness!! That sound’s like a nightmare. All my digital stamps are on my computer hard-drive taking up next to no space and super easily searchable. I do have a back up drive but even if I did loose them most stamp artists will be happy to let you download your stamps again given proof of purchase.
Have I convinced you try digital stamping yet?
How to Use Digital Stamps
Printing Digital Stamps
You don’t need a special printer to print your digital stamps, any old inkjet will do the job just fine.
I print my digital stamps onto Ultimate Graphic 160gsm paper. It’s bright white so my colours really pop and it’s super smooth surface makes blending easier.
